DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential To Job: Performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in preparing a variety of assembly facilities for use, including setting tables, chairs, stages, and risers; prepares program equipment such as exhibit booths, small P.A. systems, podiums; performs various custodial duties including sweeping, scrubbing, removal of debris, mopping and buffing between and during periods of use; operates vacuum cleaners, high speed and slow speed buffers, automatic scrubbers, lawn mowers, personal lifts, carpet extractors, power sweepers, power saws, power drills, fire extinguishers; drives ½ ton truck, panel truck (van), 24 foot box truck, and forklift; uses such hand tools as mop, broom, scraper, staple gun, saw, hammer, screw driver, wrench, rachet, socket, chisel, power saw, power drill, pry bar, mop wringer.

Other Job Duties: Must have adequate transportation to be able to report to work regardless of time or day scheduled. Makes minor repair of building systems including plumbing and painting; repairs basic tools and equipment; may supervise a crew of casual employees and/or maintenance workers; performs other duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS

Will be expected to work days, nights and/or weekends as required. Will be expected to adapt to constantly changing work schedules. Will be required to work overtime as requested by employer. Is exposed to extreme cold, heat and temperature swings, extreme noise, extreme heights; works indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather; is exposed to fumes/odors, dust/mites and chemical hazards.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of modern custodial practices including commercial floor care equipment and chemicals; some knowledge of fire codes as they pertain to operating public buildings.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and public; ability to communicate in the English language; ability to read and make mathematical calculations; ability to make decisions; ability to operate required equipment and tools.

Physical Requirements: Essential: Constantly sees and hears; frequently cleans, stands, bends drives, holds and lifts objects weighing up to 40 lbs., carries and drags objects weighing up to 55 lbs., operates a two-way radio, walks, twists body; infrequently climbs, crawls, kneels, pulls and pushes objects weighing up to 50 lbs., runs, sits, sorts, squats, stoops, and writes by hand.

Education/Experience: Completion of ten (10) school grades. Three (3) years experience in general facilities maintenance with extensive background in current custodial practices and procedures including floor care, floor chemicals and coatings, and automated floor equipment. One (1) year experience working with convention center/assembly center equipment preferred.

Other: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. CDL license preferred. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
