DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions: Operates any or all of the following light to medium weight equipment: 6 to 14 yard dump truck, tractor with flail mower or box blade, two ton stake body truck, chipper, stump remover, 3/4 yard front end loader or tractor trailer. Performs such tasks as mowing grass in parks, removing stumps and debris, collecting refuse, excavating, and hauling various materials; inspects, services and makes minor repairs to equipment and reports malfunctions; exercises extreme caution in equipment operation; may operate other types of equipment on a temporary relief basis; uses hand tools and other tools such as pneumatics, chain saw, jackhammer, lawn mower, tiller and ropes.

Other Job Functions: Disposes of waste; trims and removes limbs; cleans drains; picks up trash off of parks; assists co-workers; performs other duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS

Works outside in all types of weather; is exposed to extreme cold, heat, and temperature changes; is exposed to extreme heights, extreme and constant noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes/odors, dust/mites, and gas vapors; works in trenches/ditches and sometimes indoors. Must be available to work approximately 20 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: Knowledge of the operating procedures and servicing requirements of assigned equipment; considerable knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in the operation of assigned equipment; knowledge of potential work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment.

Skills/Abilities: Skilled in the operation and servicing of assigned equipment; ability to operate equipment safely and skillfully in and around traffic, construction sites and work areas; ability to make minor operating adjustments and repairs, and to recognize operating deficiencies in assigned equipment; ability to perform manual labor; ability to communicate both orally and in writing; ability to read and write and to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

Physical Requirements: Essential: Constantly sees and hears, sits, drives; frequently cleans, climbs, lifts up to 56-70 lbs., carries up to 56-70 lbs., holds up to 56-70 lbs, pushes up to 56-70 lbs., pulls up to 56-70 lbs, drags up to 56-70 lbs, squats, stands, stoops, twists body, writes by hand and operates a 2-way radio; infrequently crawls, runs, and sorts,

Education/Experience: Completion of eight (8) school grades; High school graduation or equivalent preferred; minimum six (6) months experience in the operation and servicing of designated equipment; experience in landscaping/lawn maintenance preferred.

Other: Must possess a valid Class B/CDL driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Class B/CDL driver's license with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
