DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions: Performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks involved in preparing assembly facilities for use, including setting up tables, chairs, stages and program equipment such as sound systems, exhibit booths and removal of same after event; also performs various custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and removal of debris; changes light bulbs; operates ½ ton truck, passenger car and panel truck; operates a variety of cleaning equipment; additional duties assigned, litter pickup on Fairgrounds and Riverfront Park.
Other Job Functions: Litter pickup on Fairgrounds and Riverfront Park; minor repair of building systems including plumbing and painting; repair and maintenance of basic tools and equipment; performs other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works outside and inside in all kinds of weather; works in extreme cold, heat, heights, temperature swings and noise; works with fumes/odor, dust/mites and chemical hazards; must be available to work any hours, 20 hours per week average, primarily nights and weekends, and holidays; schedules vary.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in cleaning and custodial work including commercial floor care equipment and chemicals; knowledge of setting tables, chairs, stages and exhibit booths.
Skills/Abilities: Skill in the operation of custodial equipment such as forklift, sweeper, floor scrubber and shampoo machine preferred; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to interact effectively with other employees; must be able to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors; ability to operate ½ ton truck, passenger car and panel truck; ability to read.
Physical Requirements: Essential: Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, walks, cleans, drives, stoops, carries, lifts objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; infrequently climbs, crawls, kneels, sits, sorts, squats, twists body, writes, drags, pulls, pushes objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education/Experience: Completion of 10 school grades, high school graduate or equivalent preferred; minimum six (6) months experience in laboring or custodial work preferred.
Other: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
