DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions: Performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks involved in preparing a variety of assembly facilities for use, including setting tables, chairs, stages, and risers; prepares program equipment such as small sound systems, exhibit booths, and podiums; removes same after event; also performs various custodian duties including sweeping, raking, scrubbing, mopping, and removal of debris.

Other Job Functions: Minor repair of program equipment and basic tools; changes light bulbs; perform various other routine maintenance tasks including, but not limited to plumbing and painting; performs other duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Will be expected to work days, nights and/or weekends as required. Will be expected to adapt to constantly changing work schedules. Will be required to work overtime as requested by employer. Is exposed to extreme cold, heat, temperature swings, heights and noise; works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather; is exposed to fumes/odors, dust/mites and chemical hazards. Works varying schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and split shifts.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: Knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in maintenance and custodial work.

Skills/Abilities: Skilled in the operation and maintenance of custodial and maintenance equipment such as vacuum cleaner, high speed and slow speed buffer, automatic scrubber, lawn mower, weed eater, carpet extractor, forklift, air lift and power sweeper; ability to use various hand tools and cleaning equipment such as mop, mop wringer, broom, scraper, staple gun, hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, sockets, ratchets and chisel; ability to drive 1/2 ton truck, passenger car and van; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to interact effectively with other employees and the public.

Physical Requirements: Essential: Constantly hears and sees; frequently cleans, stands, bends, reaches, walks, carries, pushes, pulls, and drags objects weighing up to 55 lbs., lifts objects weighing up to 40 lbs.; infrequently kneels, squats, runs, twists body, sorts, drives; operates a two-way radio.

Education/Experience: Completion of ten (10) school grades; high school graduate or equivalent preferred; one (1) year experience in custodial work including six (6) months labor experience; extensive custodial/laboring experience preferred.

Other: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Class A/CDL driver's license preferred with a good driving record. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
