DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions: Performs major testing and overhaul of electronic and pneumatic equipment, including high voltage motor control circuits, pressure transducers, electro-mechanical devices, telemetry devices, current amplifiers, liquid level control, flow meters (pressure differential, magnetic), microprocessor based controllers, programmable controllers, D.C. and variable frequency motor controls, analytical equipment (pH meters, colorimeters, etc.) flame detection systems, and other electronic equipment; installs, repairs and maintains electronic and electrical equipment in the field; maintains chemical pumps; maintains chlorinator equipment; motor overhaul inside the plant and in the field; pipefitting; designs computer interface equipment systems, test equipment, and other electronic equipment; maintains testing and repair equipment in good condition at all times; maintains parts supply inventory; prepares and maintains records and reports; studies manuals and new equipment literature to remain abreast of new equipment and maintenance procedures. Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather; exposed to electrical equipment and hazardous conditions; subjected to untreated sludge, noise, chemicals, and gases. Working under and above ground several feet. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., occasionally shift work and can be subject to 24 hour call.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in electronic installations, complex relay logic, maintenance, repair, and testing; knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; knowledge of PLC, preferably Allen-Bradley equipment; knowledge of PC operations including DOS, windows, and spreadsheets.
Skills/Abilities: Skilled in the use and maintenance of electronic equipment, 480 volt control systems, and testing devices; ability to perform tasks listed above unassisted; ability to modify and substitute component parts; ability to detect and correct defects in various types of electronic equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Physical Requirements: Essential: Constantly sees, (must be able to distinguish colors), and hears; frequently stands, stoops, bends, climbs, and lifts objects weighing up to 70 lbs.
Education/Experience: Graduation from a college, university, or accredited technical training institution with a two-year associate degree in electronics, supplemented by specialize training. Approximately five (5) years experience with progressive responsibility in the repair and maintenance of the electrical and electronic equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills. College degree may be substituted for work experience. Electrician experience is an acceptable substitute for instrumentation experience.
Other: Must obtain a Class II Wastewater License within one year of employment. Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Must obtain a Class A/CDL driver's license within six (6) months of employment. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
