DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions: Manages the technical crews of the division; supervises the scheduling of all technical crews; reviews contracts for uses of facilities and makes all necessary arrangements for labor, equipment and supplies; makes stage labor calls and supervises stage labor activities; works with client to make appropriate plans for set-up of building and program equipment; advises staff on most effective use of theatrical system equipment; assists in booking, planning and coordinating the activities in the city public assembly facilities; manages the maintenance of facilities theatrical systems; assists division manager with budget information.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather; is exposed to extreme cold, heat and temperature swings; is exposed to extreme noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes/odors, dust/mites, and chemical hazards; works evenings, weekends, and holidays; works a varied schedule of hours; works substantially more than 40 hours per week on occasion.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of theatrical equipment systems in application, effect and repair; considerable knowledge of building systems, including HVAC and electrical; considerable knowledge of principles of budget administration, personnel administration and contract administration; knowledge of fire codes as they apply to public assembly facilities; knowledge of effective supervisory practices and procedures.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to write and speak the English language; ability to draft stage designs; ability to work well with other staff, clients and the public; ability to supervise other employees; skill in the operation of a calculator, PC, professional sound equipment, theatrical lighting and rigging equipment, skill in the operation of 1/2 ton truck, car, panel truck, and forklift; skill in the operation of hand tools, solder guns, power tools, and drafting equipment.

Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently operates a calculator, drives, sits, stands, walks, and writes by hand; infrequently carries, drags, lifts, pulls and pushes objects weighing up to 50 lbs., cleans, climbs, holds objects weighing up to 30 lbs., kneels, operates a PC, sorts, stoops, performs data entry, files, squats, twists body, and types.

Education/Experience: Graduation from a four (4) year college or university with major coursework in technical theater or related field. Three (3) years experience in technical theater.

Other: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
