Human
Resources provides staff services in three functional areas: personnel
administration, safety and workers’ compensation and civil service. The
personnel administration function includes obtaining qualified
applicants to fill various job vacancies, maintaining equitable and
competitive compensation practices, providing consultation to all
departments on personnel related issues and matters, reviewing and/or
resolving employee concerns, grievances and appeals, and ensuring
compliance with federal and state laws and developing and interpreting
policy. The Safety and Workers’ Compensation function includes
developing and monitoring the City’s safety program, the self-insured
workers’ compensation program, and a drug testing program. The Civil
Service function includes conducting entry level examinations for new
civil service employees, developing/administering promotional
examinations and serving as the liaison between the Civil Service
Commission and employees.
The City of Beaumont’s full time employees receive a comprehensive
benefits package as well as ten (10) paid
holidays, twelve (12) days of short term disability, and five (5) days
of personal leave a year. Employees also receive 10 - 30 vacation days a
year depending on length of service with the City.
