 Hiring Process

1. Complete online application:  http://www.cityofbeaumont.com/hr_job.htm
2. Written Examination
   • The written examination consists of approximately 50 multiple choice questions for each specific certification level (Basic, Intermediate, and Paramedic).
   • The paramedic written exam also includes ECG interpretation.
3. Physical Agility
   • The candidate will carry two bags, up three flight of stairs, perform one-rescuer CPR in accordance with AHA guidelines for 5 minutes, return to the starting point with the two bags; unload the stretcher and touch the door of the structure.
   • The candidate and an officer will carry an approximately 100-kg victim down from the fourth floor to the first floor using the Reeve's Sleeve.  The victim will be lifted onto the stretcher and secured.  It will then be loaded into the ambulance.
4. Practical Skills Testing - skill sheets will be that of National Registry
• Paramedic & Intermediate Levels
• Ventilatory Management - Adult
• Spinal Immobilization (Seated & Supine)
• Intravenous Therapy
• Basic Level
• EMT-BVM Apneic Patient
• EMT-Oxygen Administration by NRB
• Spinal Immobilization (Seated & Supine)
• All Levels - Scenario Testing
  • Patient Assessment - Trauma (Basic)
  • Patient Assessment - Trauma (Intermediate & Paramedic)
  • Patient Assessment - Medical (Basic)
  • Patient Assessment - Medical (Intermediate & Paramedic)
  • Dynamic Cardiology (Paramedic)
5. Oral Interview
   • The oral interview will be conducted by the EMS Manager, Clinical Supervisor, and Paramedic Supervisor.
6. Human Resources
   • Background check, drug screen and psychological evaluation will be scheduled by the City of Beaumont Human Resources.
