ELECTION INFORMATION
To be eligible to vote, citizens must be registered voters 30 days before an election. Voter registration
is at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1149 Pearl Street, and additional information may be received
from the Voter Registrar at 834-VOTE (8683). We encourage voter participation and remind you that
your vote does count! In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German; in
1845, one vote brought Texas into the Union; in 1876, on vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the
Presidency of the United States; and in 1941, one vote saved Selective Service - just 12 weeks before
Pearl Harbor.
