What happens if I made a mistake and called 911 and then
hung up?
The Call Taker has no way of knowing if there is an
emergency and will call the number back. If no one answers
they will dispatch a police officer to try and find out if
there is a problem. That is why it is important that you
stay on the line and let us know that it was a mistake and
there is no emergency.
Can I hang up after I tell them what is happening?
No. Please allow the 911 Call Taker to ask the questions
they have been trained to ask. This will allow them to get
the help you need as soon as possible. During an emergency,
the 911 Call Taker will forward the suspect information to
the Dispatcher and help will be sent. Don’t hang up the
phone until the 911 Call Taker tells you do so. Additional
information may be needed.
Can I make a report without having a Police Officer come
out?
Yes. The phone number to call to file a report without a
police officer having to come out is (409)880-3862. This
number can be used to report such incidents as auto
burglary, theft, criminal mischief and other property
crimes.
You may also use the Beaumont Police website to file the
same type of reports. The link is:

Can you tell where I am calling from when I use my cell
phone?
Due to various factors with technology,
we cannot determine the precise location of a caller who
dials 911 from any cell phone. It is essential that you
stay on the line and clearly give your location to the 911
Call Taker.
